High-Power Noise Sources

While lower frequencies (under 2 GHz) are most common, Mercury produces powerful amplified noise modules up to 18 GHz. Noise modules are available in coaxial, surface mount and pin type construction. Broadband Calibrated Noise Sources
Fairview Microwave’s calibrated noise sources cover frequency bands from 10 KHz to 18 GHz. Their performance specifications include output ENR levels ranging from 15 dB to 30 dB and typical VSWR levels as low as 1.25:1. Depending on the model, calibrated frequency points are at 10 MHz, 100 MHz, 1000 MHz, 2000 MHz and 1 GHz steps. The temperature coefficient of these noise sources is < 0.01 dB/°C and noise output variation is < 0.1 dB/%V.

Broadband Coaxial Noise Sources
Our integrated noise modules contain all the required biasing circuitry and only need a positive voltage to activate for an easy installation. Since they typically do not contain amplification, the raw noise output from the diode is seen at the output of the module resulting in a maximum ENR of approximately 35dB. Primary applications include system built-in test and laboratory use.

CNS346 Series
The Spanawave CNS346 Series is designed for precision noise figure measurement applications. The superior VSWR characteristics reduce multiple reflections of the test signals and significantly increase the measurement accuracy of most noise figure set-ups. The CNS346 Series noise sources have broadband coverage and extremely good temperature and voltage stability, for the finest noise figure meter-compatible laboratory standards. Outputs of 6, 15.5 and 22 dB ENR are available, allowing the units to accurately measure noise figures up to 20 ,30 and 36 dB respectively.

High Power Noise Sources

The NS-7001 is high-power noise source specifically designed to operate in the 2.11-2.17 GHz UMTS band. It features flat output power that is regulated over a wide temperature range with high rejection outside the operating band of interest. Noise Source, 1 GHz up to 40 GHz
346CK40
The Keysight 346CK40 is the ideal companion to Keysight´s noise figure solutions when working on high frequency applications. Since it is broadband (1 GHz to 40 GHz), it eliminates the necessity for several sources at different frequency bands. The low SWR of the noise source greatly reduces measurement uncertainty, which are commonly reflections of the test signals. This is a coaxial noise source with a 2.4 mm coaxial connector. ENR typically 14 dB at 1 GHz, decreasing to 5 dB at 40 GHz (typical).

Multi-Channel, Programmable Current Source

The Model CS-48-100 is a multi-channel, programmable current source. Developed for both semiconductor and digital superconductor electronics, it is computer-controlled and features 48 low noise current source outputs. Each source output has the capability to both set and read back currents and can be set to a zero current high Z mute state. Each of the 48 sources are optically coupled for control and are sourced from their own secondary winding for complete galvanic isolation. The device consumes a maximum of only 80 W and handles a maximum load current of 4.8 A total over all outputs. Operating over a range of 0-100 mA on each channel, the device features accuracy of +/-25 ?A. The mute state can be set thru a rear panel interlock or from the front panel button for maximum circuit protection. The unit can be mounted in a standard-sized rack.
