CAT-5 Cable Equalizers
Analog Devices high speed, differential receivers and CAT-5 cable equalizers compensate for the transmission losses of UTP and coaxial cables up to 300 meters in length. Our design techniques for products such as the AD8123 optimize performance for low noise, short-to-medium range applications, while also providing the high gain bandwidth required for long cable equalizations. Various gain stages are summed together to best approximate the inverse frequency response of the cable. Logic circuitry controls the gain functions of the individual stages so that the lowest noise can be achieved at short-to-medium cable lengths.

CAT-5 Video Drivers
Analog Devices provides designers with a robust portfolio of high speed triple, differential, and single-ended input to differential output CAT-5 video drivers. We designed the technology for the highest resolution component video signals, but it can be used for any type of analog signals or high speed data transmission over either Category 5 UTP cable or differential printed circuit board (PCB) transmission lines. Manufactured with our second generation XFCB bipolar process, the drivers have large signal bandwidths of 700 MHz, fast slew rate, and output amplitude and phase matching balanced to –60 dB at 50 MHz.

CAT-5 Video Variable Filters
It is often beneficial to use a video driver at the output of a video encoder for power savings, line driving, and additional circuit protection. The video driver is typically configured as an active filter, also known as a reconstruction or anti-imaging filter. The purpose of the reconstruction filter is twofold: it blocks the higher frequency components (above the Nyquist frequency) that were introduced into the video signal as part of the digitization process and provides gain to drive the external 75 Ω cable to the video display.

Charge Integrator Amplifiers
AD8488
Analog Devices’ charge integrator amplifiers convert the charge acquired by X-ray or photodiode detectors to a voltage. The channels are composed of CMOS transistors, using typical high input impedance CMOS gates. The integrators generate charge dependent voltages using a range of selectable capacitance values that accommodate a broad range of input charge values. The integrators are followed by single-ended input to differential output voltage amplifiers where offset and low frequency noise voltages are subtracted from the input voltages.

Clock and Data Recovery/Retiming
Analog Devices provides single rate, multiple rate, and continuous tuning clock and data recovery (CDR) ICs for metro, long haul, DWDM, FSO, instrumentation, and other applications. Our any rate CDR ICs allow easy integration into protocol agnostic applications, automatically locking onto incoming data streams at any rate, from 10 Mbps to 2.7 Gbps or from 6.5 Mbps to 11.3 Gbps, without the aid of a reference clock while reporting the acquired data rate over the I2C interface. With a proprietary dual loop design, our any rate CDR ICs feature fast locking with superior jitter performance.

Current Sense Amplifiers
Analog Devices’ current sense amplifiers offer excellent performance for a wide array of automotive and power management applications. These devices accurately amplify small voltages in the presence of large common-mode voltage, and provide high bandwidth, as well as level shifting and bidirectional capability. Excellent dc and ac accuracy over a wide temperature range from –40°C to +125°C minimizes errors in your measurement loop while not sacrificing on cost and package size.

Difference Amplifiers
A difference amplifier is a special purpose amplifier designed to measure differential signals, otherwise known as a subtractor. A key feature of a difference amplifier is its ability to remove unwanted common mode signals, known as common mode rejection (CMR). Unlike most types of amplifiers, difference amplifiers are typically able to measure voltages beyond the supply rails, and are used in applications where large dc or ac common-mode voltages are present. They are ideal for current and voltage monitoring. Analog Devices offers a range of difference amplifiers, optimized for low distortion, low power, or high voltage performance.

Digital Control VGAs
Analog Devices digital controlled variable gain amplifiers provide discrete levels of gain control over a fixed number of control bits for a variety of audio and optical frequency bands. Our VGAs improve the dynamic range of a circuit by allowing users to adjust the amplitude of a signal in real time, which is critical for a number of applications involving ultrasound, speech analysis, radar, wireless communications, and instrumentation. We also offer a portfolio of voltage controlled VGAs to provide you with continuous gain control over a wide dynamic range.
