Dow-Key Mircowave Corporation
Dow-Key Microwave Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer of electromechanical switches for radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. Founded in 1945, we are also the oldest continuously operating RF/microwave switch manufacturer in the United States and are an operating company within Ceramic & Microwave Products, a subsidiary of Dover Corporation. Dover is a multi-billion dollar, NYSE-traded, diversified manufacturer of a wide range of proprietary electronic components and systems.

Waveguide Switches
Waveguide switches are electromagnetic switches with hollow circular or rectangular cross-sections and are used for routing RF energy in microwave communications, broadcasting, and in radar applications. Waveguide switches can be used to transfer both power and communication signals, and the bandwidth of a waveguide is in relation to its size, and thus always referred to by its size (e.g. WR112, WR90, WR75 etc.). Compared to coaxial switches, waveguides can route extremely high power signals over a narrow bandwidth at low to high frequencies, and now Lightweight Waveguide series is available.

Coaxial Switches
An electromechanical switch made primarily for routing microwave signals/RF energy from one point to another within a transmission line. Coaxial switches can be used in either an industrial environment or in the lab. These electromechanical devices are also used for RF testing equipment and in large RF communication systems and networks. Coaxial switches vary by port configuration, switch type, maximum frequency, isolation, insertion loss, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and package type. Coaxial switches are able to route RF signals over a broad bandwidth from DC to 40 GHz, and are now offered with the Low PIM option which will improve Passive Intermodulation levels from -110dBc (standard switch) to -160dBc.

Coaxial DPDT Switches
Our rigorous quality assurance processes allow transfer switches to be used in critical programs such as Inmarsat-4 satellite system which supports Broadband and Global Area Network for delivering Internet and intranet content solutions (e.g. video, fax, email and LAN access). On other space missions like the ACE (Advanced Composition Explorer – an explorer mission) our lightweight (less than 55 grams) and highly reliable qualified transfer switches were a perfect fit.

Coaxial SPDT Switches
Dow-Key’s innovative and proven high reliability, superior RF performance, and low current/magnetic latch SPDT switches have played a part in hundreds of successful space missions since the 1970’s. Some of these missions include: GPS III (Global Positioning System), Atlas (launch vehicle), Pegasus (rocket), Milstar (satellite communication system), and Optus (leading operator of satellites in the Asia Pacific region).

Solid State
4701 Series
The 4701 Model is a Non-blocking Full Fan-Out (any input connected to any output simultaneously) coaxial switching system operating from 1 GHz to 18 GHz. The system is configured with maximum (12) N-type inputs and (12) SMA-type outputs. All inputs are outfitted with high linearity amplifiers in order to compensate for system insertion loss.

Fan In/Outs
The 4601 Model is a Non-blocking Full Fan-Out (any input connected to any output simultaneously) coaxial switch system operating from 1 GHz to 18 GHz. The system is configured with maximum (8) N-type inputs and (8) SMA-type outputs. All inputs are outfitted with high linearity amplifiers in order to compensate for system insertion loss.

Coaxial T-Switches
The benefit of a T-switch over a DPDT (or transfer) switch is that up to three combinations of RF paths are available, which is perfectly suited for space applications where more than two path combinations are required.

Coaxial Multi-Position Switches
Space-qualified multi-position switches are sometimes used during launch, which means that they need to be operational under very harsh conditions, such as continuous RF power during actuation (‘hot switching’), as well as high levels of shocks and vibrations. Dow-Key has proven designs on numerous programs such as ORION, VENICE, and AMOS.

Waveguide Switches (Hi-Rel)
In 1993 Dow-Key expanded its involvement in Hi-Rel space programs with the acquisition of the Transco Space Qualified Products. In addition to the heritage for the Hi-Rel waveguide switches, many of the Transco design engineers stayed with Dow-Key and are still employed with us today.

Crossbar
For more complex test setups and signal switching, the CB-series crossbar matrix is an excellent choice. It allows testing of multiple UUT/DUT (units/devices under test) with many input/output signals or high speed communication buses without having to connect and disconnect them from the setup.

Multiple Switch
MS Series
The MS-series is a switch solution populated with individual switches to allow the user to control multiple coaxial switches easily through software. It gives the user the flexibility to add as many switches as needed (limited to the size of the enclosure) on the rear panel or inside the box starting with a 19” 1RU chassis up to 4RU (and larger enclosures for custom designs).
